According to reports, Liverpool have approached Leicester City over a January signing for Riyadh Mahrez.
Mahrez indicated his desire to leave Leicester during the summer transfer window and Roma were the favourites to sign him, however in the end a move did not take place as the Italian giants were unable to meet the evaluation of the Foxes.
With Philippe Coutinho now looking set to depart Liverpool for Barcelona, Liverpool will have to consider bringing in midfield reinforcements.
The Reds have prepared for Coutinho’s exit well in advance and are hoping to sign Monaco star Thomas Lemar.
However it now appears that Mahrez is the back-up option to Lemar, which is odd given that the two players have very different styles of play.
Mahrez would be a very exciting addition to the Reds if he ends up joining. The Algerian was a key player for Leicester during the 2015/16 season when they shockingly won the Premier League title.
