Keown hails this Everton player following Liverpool loss

Martin Keown has said that Phil Jagielka was impressive for Everton during their FA Cup loss against Liverpool on Friday.

The 35-year old Jagielka was handed a start during the game and ended up playing the full 90 minutes as his side went on to lose 2-1.

Keown was watching the game and was impressed with the performance of Jagielka, who is a veteran of the Toffees, having been at the club since 2007 when he joined from Sheffield United in a deal worth £4 million.

He said: “Phil Jagielka has had an excellent game, never mind his involvement for the Everton goal.”

Everton were dominated during the game against the Reds having only had 39% of the ball possession. They only also managed four shots at goal, of which one was on target.

Sam Allardyce’s team are currently in ninth position on the Premier League standings with 27 points from 22 games.
