Liverpool superstar earns prestigious award

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been crowned African Player of the year.

The Egyptian beat his Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane as well as Borussia Dortmund and Gabon national team forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the award.

Salah enjoyed a stellar 2017.

After moving to Liverpool from Roma during the summer transfer window, he has proven to have been one of the best signings of the summer as he has already gone on to score 24 goals in all competitions.

In addition to this, he also scored both goals for Egypt as they defeated Congo 2-1 in World Cup qualifying to ensure qualification for the world cup for the first time since 1990.

“I think we have a good national team and we did very well in the Africa Cup and qualification for World Cup,” said Salah before the awards ceremony.

“We deserved that, everyone saw that and I am very happy and very excited for the World Cup and I am very sure we are going to do something special at the World Cup.”
