Liverpool reportedly set sights on talented goalkeeper to replace Mignolet

Anfield

The Metro have broadcasted news from Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport which reports that Liverpool would try to sign Roma’ goalkeeper Alisson Becker after Jurgen Klopp identified him as a perfect replacement for Simon Mignolet.

The Anfield-based team have been struggling with keepers for a while, as Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius both had ups and downs, and as a result, manager Jurgen Klopp wants to have a reliable keeper to be able to battle with the top clubs in England and Europe.

Soon after the signing of Virgil Van Dijk, Liverpool could try to further reinforce their backline, and Alisson seems to be the likely candidate. The Brazilian keeper has established himself as the first-choice goalie even in the national team.

Alisson is excellent in one-on-one situations and is also known as a good penalty stopper. Given the fact that former Internacional’ shot-stopper won’t be able to perform in the Champions League by the end of the season though, we will see if Klopp would make a move in January, or rather wait until summer.
