Why £12million-rated star with 79-EPL appearances could be the Carvalho West Ham need

West Ham missed out on Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho during the summer and have been left ruing it.

It’s unknown if the Hammers will return for the £40million-rated Portugal international this month, but there might be no need for that as they might have found a perfect blocking midfielder in Watford’s Etienne Capoue.

The French star is currently out of the first team at Vicarage Road having started just 4 league games this term, and the Hornets are said to willing to let him go for £12million.

The 29-year-old ex-Tottenham man fell out with Watford manager Marco Silva during pre-season, and has since suffered a dip in form.

However, if last season’s form is to be taken into consideration, Capoue could be the perfect man needed to make things tick in deep midfield for West Ham.

The tough-tackling added 7 goals to his name to emerge as Watford’s 2nd highest goalscorer while also acting as a perfect screen to the back four.

With 79 topflight games to his name since arriving from Toulouse in 2013, Capoue boasts of a lot of experience playing at this level – something Carvalho doesn’t have.

The Hammers need to add bite to their midfield this month, and the Frenchman brings that and even some goals to the table.
