According to a report published by The Daily Star, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has played down reports that the wife of Olivier Giroud is against the striker making a move to Everton.
Giroud was heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates during the summer transfer window after AlexandreLacazette arrived at the club which has heavily restricted his playing time this season.
Toffees boss Sam Allardyce recently claimed that the move was going to happen during the summer but that the wife of the player prevented it from happening as she did not wish to swap London for Liverpool.
However when commenting on the situation, Wenger said: “He could have joined Everton and stayed basically in London. I don’t think that was the problem.”
With Giroud struggling to earn regular game time at the Emirates this season, he may fathom a move away from the club in January as he looks to cement his place in the France squad for the 2018 World Cup.
