Tottenham star Harry Kane has said that it was a “great feeling” after he managed to break Alan Shearer’s record for most goals scored in a calendar year after netting a hat-trick during his side’s 5-2 rout of Southampton on Tuesday.
“It was hard not to think about it, being level going into the game,” said Kane. “I wanted to win the game but of course I wanted to score as a striker. Getting that record was a great feeling.”
Kane’s goals on the day also ensured that he finishes the year as the leading scorer in Europe in 2017, beating the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Kane has managed to matured as a player during the past two seasons and is no undoubtedly one of the World’s most feared players.
It is also likely that he could be the man to end the domination of Ronaldo and Messi over the Ballondor award.
