Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that Harry Kane has yet to reach his best.

Kane has firmly established himself as one of the world’s best strikers after finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer during the past two consecutive seasons.

He netted his seventh hat-trick of 2017 during the past weekend as he scored for his side during their 3-0 win over Burnley and he then grabbed his eight in the 5-2 drubbing of Southampton.

In the process he also bettered Alan Shearer’s record tally of 36 goals in a calendar year.

Pochettino revealed that he is happy to see Kane delivering quality performances and explained that he will only get better.

“Of course the record of Alan is fantastic, he was a fantastic player, but Harry is doing so well,” said Pochettino.

“I think Alan was consistently scoring for 10 years. You need to show massive respect, it was amazing what he did.

“Harry is doing well – to have a player like Harry Kane is fantastic, I hope and I wish that every season he scores 50 or more than 50 [goals].”

The Argentine added that he thinks that the England international has yet to hit peak.

“I think he still can improve,” the Tottenham boss added. “At 24 I think the player arrives at their best at 27, 28 or 29 depending on how professional you are.”
