West Ham reportedly interested in signing Manchester United man

According to a report published by the Daily Mirror, West Ham are interested in signing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone who is currently at Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United.

The Hammers are already preparing for life without Joe Hart with the 30-year-old expected to return to his parent club Manchester City at the end of the season.

Johnstone has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Championship and has kept nine clean sheets from 22 League games this season.

Villa will naturally be hesitant to let go of Johnstone as he is a key part of their side and especially given that they are aiming to win promotion to the Premier League.

United though do have an option for recall the keeper for the second half of the season should they wish to do so.

West Ham are however unlikely to sign Johnstone in the near future given that they already have two experienced keepers in Adrian and Hart battling it out for the number one jersey.
