Aston Villa reportedly interested in acquiring the services of prolific English forward

According to reports, Aston Villa are among several Championship clubs that are interested in signing prolific Peterborough forward Jack Marriott during the January transfer window.

Since moving to Posh from Luton Town during the summer, Mariott has been in superb form and has netted 17 goals from 30 appearances in League One.

This surely indicated that the striker is ready for Championship football and he could be sold for a fee of £2.5 million. If there is one area that Villa need to reinforce in January, it is their strike department.

They are currently without Jonathan Kodjia through injury while Gabriel Agbonlahor and Scott Hogan are out injured.

Keinan Davis has been doing a decent job leading the line, however he is still very inexperienced and needs support.

Marriott has shown signs that he can succeed at Championship football and at only £2.5 million, he could be a bargain purchase.
