Liverpool reportedly verbally agree terms with Real Madrid for 23-year-old

Kovacic

According to a report published by The Daily Star, Liverpool have verbally agreed terms with Real Madrid to sign Mateo Kovacic.

Reds star Philippe Coutinho has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona during the January transfer window and if this does go ahead, Kovacic could be a good replacement.

The Croatia international is struggling for regular game time at the Santiago Bernabeu and is keen to increase his matches played ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Kovacic has an exceptional ability to run with the ball and because of this, he could add an extra dimension to the Reds midfield.

The only man who performed more dribbles in La Liga last season was Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi. He also has good defensive position which could have Jurgen Klopp’s defense which has been faltering this season.

Should Kovacic arrive at Merseyside and Coutinho leave, the loss of the Brazil international will not be as scary as is made out to be.
