Despite managing to turn their season around under new boss Sam Allardyce, Everton still need 1 or 2 top signings next month, and a perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku remains top of the agenda.
Allardyce is said to be a big admirer of FC Porto striker Vincent Aboubakar, and should he successfully convince the Cameroonian hitman into agreeing to a move in January, Everton’s campaign could take soar higher beyond expectations.
The Porto number 9 has been in lethal form in front of goal in the past 3 campaigns for both club and country.
Aboubakar led Cameroon to African Nations Cup glory at the start of the year, and recently helped his club to the Champions League next round with 5 goals and 2 assists during the group stage.
The 25-year-old clinical finisher has banged in 12 goals and helped teammates thrice in 14 league games – a major reason Porto are currently top of the league.
Aboubakar is a solid counter-attack threat as they come, with his ability to find the back of the net even from outside the 18-yard box a feature that suits Everton’s playing style.
The £44million-rated man has what it takes to replace Lukaku’s goals at Goodison Park, but do the club have what it takes to convince him to leave Champions League football midway through the campaign?
