Huge West Ham transfer boost as 72-EPL-goal target reportedly wants to move

Giroud

As per the Daily Mail, West Ham summer target and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is set to leave north London next month as his World Cup hopes hang in the balance.

The France international hasn’t started a Premier League game since Alexandre Lacazette arrived Emirates, and has been told he needs to play regularly in order to have a chance of making the squad for Russia 2018 World Cup.

Giroud wants to remain in London, and is keen to leave the Gunners on loan till the rest of the season.

West Ham were hoping to secure the services of the 31-year-old during the summer transfer window, and will now be alerted by the recent development.

Giroud has scored thrice in 12 league games off the bench this term, taking his tally in the competition to 72 in 176 games.

With the Hammers struggling in front of goal, the Frenchman could provide an escape route given his experience and quality in front of goal.

While he offers almost same thing as Andy Carroll in terms of aerial threat, Giroud is actually an upgrade on the Englishman in terms of fitness, and having him for those 5 months could be a huge bargain.

A temporary deal will also present the east London club with a chance to decide if they want to move in on a permanent buy or not.
