Crystal Palace boss Hodgson dismisses potential swoop for pacey attacker

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has dismissed rumours suggesting that his club could be set to make a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

Ings has returned to first team training with the Reds after a long –term injury layoff. His chances of regular first team action however look very slim as he lies below Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in the pecking order at Anfield.

Therefore, the Reds will likely allow the 25 year old to leave on loan during the January transfer window.

Though Palace may look to bolster their forward options in January, Hodgson has appeared to suggest that they will not move for Ings.

“We haven’t talked about Danny Ings coming here on loan with anybody,” said the ex-England boss.

“I like Danny Ings of course, but I like lots of players. We have absolutely no idea about his situation, I don’t know how well he has recovered from his injury.

“At the moment we are nowhere near that level of discussion with either Danny Ings or anybody else.”
