Former Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is confident that the Black Cats have enough quality in their side to avoid relegation this season.
Grayson was appointed as manager of the Black Cats during the summer after David Moyes resigned and spent 15 League matches in the hot seat.
However the clubs sacked him in October after just one of those games was a win.
He has since been replaced by former Wales national team boss Chris Coleman who has so far won one of his three games in charge of the club.
After being relegated from the Premier League last season, the Black Cats face the risk of back to back relegations as they currently occupy 23rd position on the Championship standings with just 14 points from 20 games.
Grayson is however confident that the club can avoid the drop saying, “It’s not going to be easy. No club has a divine right to stay up and not go down; we’ve seen in League One Leeds, [Nottingham] Forest and Man City.
“There’s been Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United… a lot of big teams have been in League One.
“But I do believe there are a number of talented players who are underachieving at this moment in time, and they need to take responsibility to get the results to get them out of trouble at this moment in time.”
