As per the Daily Mail, Leeds are keeping tabs on Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela ahead of next month’s transfer window, but they have fellow Championship outfits Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday and Premier League new boys Brighton as competitors.
The 23-year-old English midfielder has been in great form for the struggling side since helping them win promotion from the League One last term.
Vela, a Bolton youth product has made 142 senior appearances for the club since making his bow in a Premier League game in 2012.
The former Liverpool-target has scored 12 goals since, and could still attract more suitors before January runs out due to his top quality.
Leeds can do with a versatile defensive midfielder who can also play in centre-back like Vela.
Manager Thomas Christiansen needs more legs as the team attempt to finish in the playoffs places by May, and a consistent top performer and brilliant ball interceptor in the form of the Englishman will be a fine addition.
Although Vela has a year and half left on his current deal at the Macron Stadium, the Wanderers could cash in and it could be a case of “highest bidder wins” between Leeds and others next month.
