According to reports from Portugal, Newcastle United have revived their interest in signing midfielder Andreas Samaris.
Though the Magpies are in mid table, their recent form has been poor and they are just five points above the relegation zone.
Manager Rafa Benitez will likely look to bolster his side during the upcoming January transfer window in order for the Magpies to avoid the threat of relegation from the Premier League this season.
The Magpies were linked with the signature of Samaris six months ago, however the £17.5 million price tag which Benfica placed on the signature of the player was off putting.
However Samaris will now reportedly only cost £7 million, which is certainly a very affordable amount of money.
The Greek international appears to have dropped down the pecking order at his club, having only made five appearances this season and is reported to be keen on moving to the Premier League.
Should Samaris join the Magpies, he will provide additional competition to midfielders.
