Liverpool star Emre Can has finally spoken out about his contract standoff with his club and insisted that it is “not about money”.
The German international’s current contract with the Reds is set to expire at the end of the season and he has yet to sign a new deal which has led to strong speculation that he will find a new club during the summer transfer window.
Regarding the speculation though, Can said, “Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest. It is not about money, that’s all I can say.
“Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club next month), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”
The likes of Manchester City and Juventus are reportedly monitoring him. Juventus and City are two clubs who have won more trophies than the Reds during the recent past and this is likely to make joining one of them appealing to Can.
