Club not looking to sell top target of Liverpool and Arsenal

German club Schalke remain hopeful that they could keep Leon Goretzka, who is a target of Liverpool and Arsenal at their club beyond next summer.

Schalke Sporting director Christian Heidel said of Goretzka on Tuesday, “I think if Schalke had no chance to keep him I would be the first to know that.

“But I haven’t received that kind of information until now. Leon will make a decision soon without us building any pressure on him.”

The 22-year-old Goretzka’s current deal with Schalke is set to expire in six months and he has yet to sign a new contract which has led to speculation that he is planning to leave the club.

Arsenal are believed to have made the German a top target for the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are also interested and view Goretzka as a possible replacement for Emre Can, who currently looks like he is going to leave the club at the end of the season.
