Championship pundit reveals why Leeds have missed out on EPL promotion by January

Leeds looked Premier League-bound at the start of the campaign, losing just 1 of their opening 9 Championship fixtures while winning 6 and drawing the other 2.

However, 6 losses and a win later, the Whites have plunged to 10th position on the log – 3 points from the playoffs spots.

They host 5th place Middlesbrough on Sunday, and a loss will only put their promotion ambitions into further jeopardy.

Former Leeds midfielder David Prutton believes the club’s post-international break tough run of fixtures will be a real examination of their promotion credentials.

While the Elland Road outfit will be looking to invest again during the January transfer window, the EFL pundit hopes there is a reason to spend by then, as “between now and then you just hope that they are not cut adrift.”

After Boro, Leeds face Wolverhampton Wanderers away and Aston Villa in their next home game.

Both sides have been better than manager Thomas Christiansen’s side of recent, and further losses will only heap more woes on him.

If Leeds aren’t any way near the playoffs zone by January, it could be safe to agree that they have missed out on promotion again.
