Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the signature of Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen in the January transfer window, according to Daily Star.
Newcastle United currently have Rob Elliott and Karl Darlow as their senior goalkeepers but with Darlow’s future at St. James’ Park in doubt, it looks like the Magpies will need a new keeper to challenge Elliott.
As a result, it is believed that Newcastle are currently looking at Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen as a potential new signing to fulfill the aforementioned role.
Considering the Dutchman’s recent struggles for Barcelona, the 28-year-old will definitely be tempted to move to England in the near future and Newcastle will be an ideal destination for him.
Cillessen is a regular for Netherlands national team and will bring in huge experience into the first team should he join Newcastle.
This deal will be a huge coup for Newcastle and Rafa Benitez will definitely hope that he can complete the move.
