Rangers standing in Celtic’s way for the signature of continent’s brightest prospect

Celtic vs Hearts

As per the Scotsman, Rangers are set to rival Celtic in the pursuit of Club Brugge 19-year-old midfielder Riley McGree ahead of the January transfer window.

Widely regarded as the next best thing to come out of Australia, the teenage sensation attracted the Bhoys during the summer transfer window.

However, he chose the Belgian side and has struggled to establish himself in the team.

Despite not living up to the hype yet, the Australia under-23 internationalist has continued to attract both Celtic and Rangers scouts.

Although Brugge secured McGree’s services for 4 years, a move to Scotland could work out if a juicy offer is brought to the negotiation table by either suitor.

The former Adelaide United whiz kid made the rounds for his splendid performances, including 2 goals in 21 appearances, in the A-League last term.

Having been invited to the Australian national team in March, McGree would hope to make Russia 2018 should his country qualify, and he might be keen on leaving Belgium for playing minutes in order to realize his dreams.

The Old Firm rivals have a great battle on their hands for the youngster’s signature come January.
