Barcelona boss speaks on a potential move for Liverpool star in January

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has refused to rule out the possibility of his side signing Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian became a priority target of the Catalan giants during the summer after they lost Neymar to PSG. They ended up making three failed bids for the services of the 25 year old, the last which was set to be worth £119 million.

Since returning to action for Liverpool, Coutinho has been in superb form and has so far scored four goals.

Manager Jurgen Klopp naturally does not wish to sell when the transfer window opens in January. Valverde has however refused to rule out the possibility of his side aiming to sign the player.

He said: “It is clear that Barcelona are always attentive to improving the team if it is possible. I say that as a club but at the same time, as a manager, I have the idea of getting the best out of the players I have and I do not look too much to other players.

“The players who are already here are the ones who have to pull forward and then, when the transfer window arrives, we will see. There are still two months left and there is time to plan new signings.”
