Celtic star says he is ready to become a star for national team

Celtic vs Hearts

Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has said that he is ready to become a star for the Scotland national team after breaking into the squad for the first time last month.

McGregor earned himself a call-up to the squad by former Scotland boss Gordan Strachan and though he did not feature as the team narrowly missed out on winning a place in the World Cup qualification playoffs, he is determined to star in the future.

Malky Mackay is in temporary charge of Scotland and will select the side that will play next month in a friendly against the Netherlands. McGregor revealed that he is keen to keep on working hard for Celtic in order to win international selection in the future.

Speaking about his call-up, he said: “It was massive. Obviously you want to be at the top international level as a player. You want to learn all the time and take things from other people’s game into your game. Just being there and taking in that experience is going to make you a better player.

“The experience is invaluable so to be taking it into my game and hopefully try to break in some time soon, I need to be putting in the performances for Celtic.

“My main priority is to do well for Celtic and you certainly want to play in these big games and do well. It’s just taking it step by step and hopefully getting there.”
