Palace manager says why playing at Newcastle is similar to playing at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has said that his side’s game against Newcastle in the Premier League this season will be similar to a game at Selhurst Park.

There is no doubt that both sides will be looking to win the game. Newcastle currently lie in ninth position on the League standings and have made an impressive start to the season, taking 11 points from their opening eight games.

Palace by contrast, have been poor and have only taken three points from eight games. They did however claim a morale boosting win last week against defending Champions Chelsea to get off the mark for this season.

Speaking ahead of the game Hodgson said: “They’re a good footballing team. I watched them at Southampton and they were every bit as good as I expected. They are a well organised team with a clear idea of what they want to do with and without the ball.

“Playing at Newcastle is like coming to Selhurst Park; it’s a fanatical atmosphere, the support is as good as we benefit from. It’s always a chore or a challenge going up there, however well they are playing.”
