Newcastle plotting January move for £8million striker

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez remains interested in signing Liverpool striker Danny Ings in January.

Ings moved from Burnley to Liverpool in 2015 for £8 million and has struggled with injuries since, only making 12 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.

It is thought that the Magpies attempted to sign the 25 year old on loan during the summer and had their approach rejected.

They may however try again in January and considering that the player does not appear to be a part of JurgenKlopp’s plans for this season, they may have a better chance.

Benitez has made it clear that he wishes to boost his current choice of strikers given that the current options of Joselu, Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic need more quality competition.

Ings is a proven scorer at the highest level after having scored 13 goals form 41 League games and could be a good addition to the Toons.
