Josh Onomah has said that leaving Tottenham to join Aston Villa on loan this season has improved his performances for the England under 21 side.
Since joining the Villains, Onomah has been playing regularly and he has managed to score two goals in five Championship starts.
He also managed to find the back of the net during the England under 21 sides victory over Scotland on Friday. Dominic Solanke and Tammy Abraham also scored to secure a 3-1 win for AidyBoothroyd’s men.
Onomah is aiming to use his time with Villa as an opportunity to learn and grow as a player and sees his long-term future with Spurs.
He said, “Going to Villa is making a huge impact on my performance when I’m with my country. We can go further (than past Under-21 teams).
“There are a huge lot of players who are playing well for their clubs and country. I won the Euros at Under-17s level and the World Cup at Under-20s. With that experience I feel we can push on for the Under-21s in two years.
“I have been with these boys since Under-16s. I feel like we have grown and learned from each other. We are getting better all the time and the next goal is to win Euros.”
