According to reports, Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has signed a new six year contract with the club. The new deal will see the 23 year old remaining with the Magpies at least until 2023.
Lascelles has been leading from the front during recent times with the Magpies and his form helped the Magpies endure a resurgence in results after they started the season on a disappointing note.
He even managed to earn himself a nomination for the Premier League player of the month for September.
Lascelles, who arrived at St James Park in a double deal along with Karl Darlow in September 2014, was delighted to have signed a new deal.
He said, “I’m over the moon. I love the city, the football and the fans. Everything about it, I enjoy so I’m happy to be tied down for the next six years here.
“We’ve got a group of ambitious lads, the fans are excellent and the manager has got trust in me, so I’m really happy here and I want to take the club as high as it can go.”
