Leeds somewhat perfect start to the 2017-18 Championship campaign was dealt a heavy blow in the last 3 weeks, with 3 losses in their latest 4 games pouring cold water on their early dominance on top of the log.
The Whites scored just once in those defeats, and despite a return of 18 goals in the 11-game old season, being ruthless in front of goal and being wasteful could be the difference between winning the Championship, finishing in 2nd place, in a playoff spot or totally missing out on one.
Enters the Leeds attack.
While the arrival of Pierre-Michel Lasogga has added fresh impetus to the team’s frontline, manager Thomas Christiansen’s refusal to give needed chances to other forwards seems to be hurting the Whites.
Indeed, the German has 3 goals and 2 assists thus far, but his 25% conversion rate (12 goal attempts) leaves little to be desired.
Stuart Dallas, who has started just once and played 102 minutes less than the main striker, has converted 29% of his shots (2 goals from 7 attempts).
Kemar Roofe is the 2nd most clinical Leeds player thus far, as he has scored 3 of 8 attempts (37.5% conversion rate) in just 6 starts.
Despite playing in deep midfield, Kalvin Phillips has converted 4 of his 9 attempts (44.4% success rate), proving to be the best finisher in the team right now.
While stats are sometimes not a true representation of a player’s ability, numbers don’t lie, and Christiansen must play Roofe and Dallas more given their quality in front of goal.
