Leeds United legend Whelan questions the Whites’ star attacker

Noel Whelan has criticized Egzjan Alioski and added that the player needs to adapt to the demands of Championship football.

Leeds tasted their first defeat of the season on Saturday as they lost 1-0 to Millwall. Though Thomas Christiansan’s side are still on top of the Championship standings, they are only there on goal difference.

The Whites went into the game as the favorites to win the match, however their players misfired on the day and Alioski in particular, was disappointing and was replaced by Kemar Roofe at half time.

Though the Macedonia international Alioski has looked impressive at times, questions have been raised over his ability to handle the physical demands of Championship football.

Whelan has now admitted that he has doubts over the players physicality and said, “He was my question mark for the game, whether he could cope with the physical attributes that Millwall were going to throw at them.

“I did question that when I saw him against Bolton as well – lightweight. On occasions brilliant from the man, but when it comes to the physical games he always seems to be like the one who could go missing when it gets a little bit tough out there.”
