Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has slammed Ragnar Klavan has claimed that the player must be really bad if Dejan Lovren is chosen ahead of him.
The Croatian international Lovren gifted Sevilla an opening goal during the Reds game against the Spanish side in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Wissam Ben Yedder going on to capitalize from his error and score.
Despite the season still being in its early days, the Jurgen Klopp’s sides defensive problems are already clearly visible and this could hamper their chances of winning trophies.
Nicol has stated that Lovren, who arrived at the Merseyside club from Southampton, has a habit of making costly errors and also slammed Klavan for not being able to replace the error prone Croatian.
Whilst discussing the presence of the 28-year-old within the first team, he said, “I think it just tells you how bad the rest of them are.
“How bad can Klavan be? How bad must he be? I would agree with that (he was a great defender at Southampton). How long ago was that? We’re talking two years, three years.
“I can assure you for three years he has been making mistake after mistake after mistake. Liverpool have paid the price almost all the time.”
