Liverpool reportedly approached to sign 27-year-old German international in the summer

Germany Muller

According to reports, Liverpool made an inquiry about signing Bayern Munich star Thomas Mueller during the summer.

The 27-year-old Mueller is a product of the Bayern youth development system and over the years has established himself as a key player for both his club as well as the German national team with whom he won the 2014 World Cup.

Muelller has an impressive record having bagged 161 goals from 398 games for Bayern as well as 37 goals from 87 games for Bayern.

However things have gone downhill for the player since last season as he failed to hit double figures for the first time since the 2008-09 season and he has only played five times since then.

Bayern will be reluctant to lose Mueller during the middle of the season though they may be open to listening to offers next summer especially if he does not play much.

Liverpool’s interest will likely depend on whether Philippe Coutinho ends up leaving the club.
