England under-17 international midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe was named on the Tottenham bench for a Premier League game for the first time, for the match against Burnley last month having impressed while featuring on a number of occasions during Spurs’ pre-season tour of the USA.
It’s a significant step towards the first team for the Academy product who is still making his way with the U23 squad, having being a key player in the U18 team’s run to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup, where they were beaten by Chelsea.
With Tottenham set to kick off their EFL Cup campaign later this month, Boothe is certain to make it to the matchday squads, and could even make his official Spurs debut against either Barnsley or Derby County.
The teenage midfielder caught the eyes of fans during the pre-season games against Roma and PSG, and could stake claim in the first team should he impress in the cup games.
Boothe is highly rated, and with manager Mauricio Pochettino always keen to give youth chances, he could be the next to follow in the paths of youth Academy graduates Harry Kane and Harry Winks into the first team.
He still has a long way to go, though, but with his potential, he could be giving the current crop of midfielders the run for the money sooner than anticipated.
