How Celtic players are getting on during the international fixtures

Celtic vs Hearts

Celtic have began the season in unbeaten form thus far, and will look to continue that once they get back. Here’s a look at how their international stars are getting along during the hiatus from their club.

Non-Scottish Players

Mikael Lustig

Played all 90 minutes and scored an equalizing goal for Sweden’s first on Thursday. However, they would fall 3-2 in Bulgaria, leaving them in second in the group.

Cristian Gamboa

The Costa Rican right back was part of a 0-2 win over the USA in New Jersey on Friday night. He was very impressive both ways in 71 minutes for the Ticos as they pulled into a clear second place.

Tom Rogic

The Australian played 70 minutes for his country in their 2-0 loss away to Japan on Thursday. That leaves them needing help in order to make it to Russia without a playoff.

Jonny Hayes

The winger was on the bench as an unused sub for Ireland as they drew 1-1 away to Georgia on Saturday.

Jozo Simunovic

The defender did was also an unused sub as his side’s defence fell apart and lost a two goal lead to lose 3-2 at Cyprus.

Scottish Players

Scotland got a big 0-3 win in Lithuania on Friday to keep them in with a shot at a spot in the World Cup. Here is how the Hoops in the side fared:

Stuart Armstrong

Scored the first goal for his side and played for 85 minutes.

Kieran Tierney

The versatile full back played all 90 minutes for his nation.

Leigh Griffiths

The striker didn’t get his name on the score sheet, but he did have an assist on Armstrong’s goal as well as assisting the third goal from James McArthur.

Craig Gordon

The goalkeeper played all 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet in the important victory.

Scott Brown

The Hoops captain played all 90 minutes and also managed to keep his discipline throughout.

James Forrest

Played for 66 minutes on the day, and assisted on Andrew Robertson’s spectacular goal to put them two to the good.
