Wales edged closer to securing a spot at next year’s Russia World Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Austria on Saturday evening.

The Dragons needed a win to keep their chances alive having won just once and drawn 5 of all their qualifiers.

Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn proved to be the hero of the Euros 2016 semifinalists, coming off the bench to make his international debut and driving a shot in from outside the box after barely 5 minutes on the pitch.

As a result of his 25-yard stunner, Woodburn became Wales’ second-youngest ever goalscorer behind Gareth Bale, and it’s not the first time the 17-year-old is making history.

Upon making his senior team debut for the Reds last November against Sunderland, the Liverpool Academy graduate became the club’s third youngest player in history to do so.

While he became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer on his second appearance, when he came off the bench to score in an EFL Cup quarter-final win over Leeds United.

Woodburn’s winner means Wales pulled within two points of a play-off spot in UEFA Group D with just 3 games to go.

Twitter couldn’t help but sing the praises of the teenage sensation, and here are some of the reactions.
