Benedikt Howedes has spoken out about why he rejected the chance to join Liverpool and chose to join Juventus.
When talking about why he opted to join the Italian giants, he said, “Many great Germany stars have already played for Juventus and Khedira is here now. Anyway I made my decision without thinking about Juventus’ former players.
“It’s been a quick negotiation. I was contacted by Juve seven/ten days ago and I am happy to help the team now. I had been playing for Schalke for 16 years and that’s my first experience in a foreign country.”
The 29-year-old Howedes joined the Old Lady of Italian football this season on loan with an option to buy for €13 million. He will bolster Juve’s already world class defence and will be hoping to win trophies with the club.
With Schalke finishing a disappointing tenth in the Bundesliga last season, the move to Juventus is definitely a great opportunity for the German.
He will also be hoping to try and help his new club finally win the Champions League after they finished as losing finalists in 2015 and again this year.
