According to reports, former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has turned down the opportunity to join PSG and Newcastle, in favor of remaining with Napoli.
The 34-year-old Reina, who spent nine years with Liverpool, was also said to have been a target of Newcastle as well as other high profile clubs this summer.
Ligue 1 giants Napoli were linked with a move for the veteran but it now appears that he has opted to remain with his Italian club.
Remaining in Italy was perhaps the best choice that Reina could have made from a footballing perspective, especially if he wants to be part of the Spain squad that travels to the World Cup in Russia next year.
Had he joined PSG, he probably would have had to act as cover for Kevin Trapp and Salvatore Sirigu and first team opportunities would have been very limited. At Naples, he will likely get playing time.
