Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has praised Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian produced a stunning display during the Merseyside club’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Hoffenheim on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Firmino crossed the ball which lead to Emre Can’s opener and also scored the fourth goal himself. Liverpool went on to win the tie 6-3 on aggregate and have now progressed to the Champions League group stage.
Emre Can scored a brace, and Mohamed Salah also found the back of the net in addition to Firmino’s goal which led to the victory on the night for the Merseyside club.
Following the game, Gerrard praised Firmino for his performance on the day and said, “Every time Liverpool won possession, the switch of play, because the line was so high with the back three, they caused them all sorts of problems.
“Roberto Firmino’s performance has been absolutely stunning. His quality, his vision, he keeps getting Liverpool players in. It was stunning, one, two touch football.”
