New Everton signing Gylfi Sigurdsson believes that Wayne Rooney deserves more credit for his achievements throughout the years.
Sigurdsson joined the Toffees from Swansea for a club record £45 million and becomes the Merseyside clubs eighth signing of the summer.
Rooney on the other hand, returned to his boyhood club this summer following a 13 year spell with Manchester United during which he became the all-time leading goal scorer for both United as well as the England national team.
Now speaking about Rooney, Sigurdsson said that the attacker deserves more credit, “He’s been a fantastic player for Everton and Manchester United and the national team and I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. But he’s one of the players I look forward to playing with.”
Rooney left the Red Devils after falling down the pecking order at the club under Jose Mourinho and he will be aiming to play regularly at Everton with a view to making the England side for the 2018 World Cup.
