West Ham reportedly eyeing ambitious move for £42milion man

According to reports, West Ham have been linked with a shock move for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala.

The Frenchman joined the Citizens in 2014 for £42 million and has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular within the squad.

He was sent out on loan to Valencia last season and it appears that he is not part of Pep Guardiola’s first team plans for this season.

City already have the likes of John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany to call upon in central defence and this means that if Mangala remains at the club, his first team opportunities are likely to be severely limited.

It is likely that City will be open to listening to offers for the 26-year-old. If the East London club offer the Citizens something decent, they will have a good chance of signing the player.

The Hammers defence also needs reinforcement as was illustrated by their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United last weekend.
