Former Sunderland midfielder James McClean has taken to social media to take a swipe at fans of his former club just before their 1-1 draw with Derby County on the opening day of the Championship.
Around 29,000 people turned up at the Stadium of Light which is considered a good number for a team that is not in the Premier League.
However despite this fact, empty seats could be seen at the venue and McClean used this fact as an opportunity to poke fun at fans of his former team.
McClean, who is now with West Brom took to Twitter, and wrote, “Did someone forget to tell the fans the game is tonight.”
On an interesting note, West Brom’s average attendance in the Premier League last term was 23,876, which is less than what the Black Cats attracted for their first match of the Championship season. the Black Cats fans will not be pleased with their former star for the comments.
