Former Liverpool midfielder David Thompson has taken to social media platform Twitter to suggest that Liverpool should loan out defender Joe Gomez this coming season.
Thompson added that it will be beneficial for the 20-year-old Gomez to join a club on the lower end of the Premier League or a high flying Championship club in order to gain more experience.
Thompson wrote on Twitter, “A loan move is a good move for joe Gomez lower prem team or top championship side to really cut his teeth #lfc.”
Gomez joined Liverpool from Charlton Atletic ahead of the 2015-16 season for £3.5 million but managed to make only seven appearances for Liverpool in all competitions last season and has yet to make an impression within the first team.
The best thing that can be done for his confidence and chances of one day making the Reds first team will be to go on a loan at this stage.
