Do Tottenham really risk losing £25million-rated star?

The Sun reported back in April that Tottenham were at the risk of losing both Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker to Inter Milan.

3 months later, Walker is lining up against Spurs after completing a £45million switch to Manchester City.

Could Alderweireld move next?

The Belgian centre-back has 2 more years left on his current deal, but contract extension talks to double his £50,000 weekly wages have stalled.

Ahead of the ICC clash against City on Saturday, the 28-year-old told Sky Sports News when asked about his current contract situation, “No news that I know of, so nothing… zero.”

A clause in the 4-year contract Alderweireld signed upon arriving in 2015 says if Spurs trigger a year-long extension in 2019, he can leave for a fee of £25million.

Only a new deal will nullify this clause, and a lot of top sides are now alerted following the player’s recent revelation that Tottenham are hesitant to make him the 3rd player in the current squad earning more than £100,000.

Walker reportedly earns £140,000 at the Etihad, double what he was earning just a month at north London despite agreeing to a new 5-year deal last September.

Alderweireld is arguably the best centre-back in the Premier League, and sides like the Mancunian clubs will readily offer a far more lucrative contract than what he’s getting at Tottenham were he to be available.

With Spurs unwilling to pay one of their best players what he truly deserves, could they be at a risk of losing him now or next season?
