Everton to miss out on reported 32-goal target as manager insists he is staying

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has ultimately ended Everton’s plans of luring French striker Moussa Dembele to the Goodison Park.

The former Liverpool chief has declared that the 21-year-old hotshot isn’t leaving the Scottish giants this summer.

Speaking ahead of the club’s Wednesday Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg, Brendan declared, “Moussa has been linked with 10 clubs. There’s nothing in it from our perspective.

“There’s no rush from Moussa. He loves being here. He knows he is in an incredible environment where he can learn and improve.”

The Toffees had earlier identified the former Fulham striker as a perfect replacement for the departed Romelu Lukaku.

Dembele bagged 32 goals and 6 assists in 48 games last season; helping Celtic to a local treble in the process, and has since seen his demand value skyrocket as a result.

Everton, Marseille and a host of other sides have been linked with the 2016 French Under-21 Player of the Year, but Rodger’s latest revelation has now poured cold water on the reports.

Toffees’ boss Ronald Koeman is still very much in the market for additional recruitments as he wants to beef up his forwardline.

From the look of things, though, Moussa Dembele is no longer an option for the Dutchman.
