According to Spanish publication Don Balon, a new twist has emerged in Barcelona’s pursuit of Philippe Coutinho, with Liverpool now demanding Rafinha or Andre Gomes plus an unmentioned huge fee for the signature of the Brazilian.
Having reportedly rejected an earlier £72million bid from the La Liga powerhouse, it appears Liverpool are willing to do business for a much higher price.
Although, the Merseysiders had earlier insisted Coutinho won’t be sold, Barcelona want him at all cost and could agree to listen to Liverpool’s new demands.
The 25-year-old hasn’t only been recognized by Barca as the perfect replacement for the ageing Andres Iniesta, they also believe his arrival could help convince Neymar to remain at Camp Nou amidst the growing PSG links.
Coutinho remains integral to Liverpool’s plans, and manager Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t sanction a sale for any price given how highly esteemed he holds the attacking midfielder.
However, Barcelona’s recent consistent bids are unsettling, and if truly they really want Coutinho, things are about to get more interesting.
