Former Celtic star Patrick Roberts has become one of the most desirable players for Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino, according to reports from the Scotsman.
Pellegrino allegedly wants to land fantastic winger this summer and he thinks that the Manchester City player would be an excellent addition to the current Southampton squad.
The Scotsman reveal that the Saints are looking to sign Roberts on a loan deal, with City unwilling to sell the winger.
At the moment, the 20-year-old is in the United States on tour with City, and until the tour is concluded, his status will be unknown.
It appears that Pep Guardiola wants to test Roberts and see whether he has the capacity of contributing to the Citizens in the future.
The winger certainly has an enormous potential, but the competition at Etihad Stadium is harsh and a loan deal away to Southampton might be the ideal solution.
