Everton reportedly make contact regarding the signing of 27-year-old Spaniard

Everton are believed to have made contact with UD Las Palmas to enquire about a possible deal for Jonathan Viera, if they fail to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, according to Marca.

Swansea have placed a £50 million price tag on the Icelandic national Gylfi Sigurdsson to ward off interest from enquiring clubs.

The Swans have rejected Everton’s bid worth £40 million for their star midfielder and the Toffees are not willing to match the increased demands of the Welsh clubs.

Instead, the Toffees are interested in bringing Jonathan Viera at Goodison Park. His performances last season, which included seven goals and seven assists, in Spain have gained the attention of other English teams including Swansea and Newcastle.

Swansea have already seen a bid worth £22 million refused by Las Palmas, as the Spanish side have made it abundantly clear that they will only sell Viera if his release clause is met which is £26.5 million.
