According to reports, Sunderland have accepted a £2 million bid for goalkeeper Vito Mannone from Reading.
The Italian has one year left on his current deal with the Black Cats and had been linked with a return to his homeland but it now looks like he will be staying put in England.
He joined the Black Cats in 2013 from Arsenal after Simon Mignolet left the club to become first choice shot-stopper at Liverpool.
Mannone played 13 appearances last season, acting as backup to Jordan Pickford and kept three clean sheets. Mannone is set to act as replacement for Ali Al Habsi, who recently left the Royals to join All Hilal.
It is possible that Mannone endured a loss of confidence last season after losing his place as the club’s first choice goalkeeper to the young Pickford and also witnessing his side being relegated.
He will however have a chance to tackle a new challenge and prove his doubters wrong with his new club.
