Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow in their aims of signing Turkish forward Cengiz Under as it appears that Manchester City have won the race to sign him.
The 19-year-old, who has already been capped and scored for the Turkish national team, has been linked with various clubs across Europe.
Basaksehir are demanding around £8.8 million for Under and this will not be a problem for City, who are set to send representatives to Turkey to complete a deal.
During an interview from last season, Under did admit that a move to England appeals to him though he referred to Manchester United and Chelsea and not Tottenham or City.
He said, “Every player wants to play in a team like Manchester United or Chelsea. I believe that one day I will play for one of those teams.
“Among the leagues I want to play in are La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League, but I want to play in the Premier League the most.”
Under is not as yet ready to play in the Premier League on a regular basis and he will probably be loaned out to gain experience should he join City.
