Aston Villa reportedly interested in £7.5million Premier League midfielder

As the Croydon Advertiser reports, Aston Villa is showing an interest in James McArthur, a Crystal Palace midfield player.

Reportedly, Steve Bruce is looking into the possibility of signing the experienced McArthur if the ongoing transfer saga with Glenn Whelan fails to produce any results.

Stoke City seem to be playing hardball with the price of their veteran midfielder, and that is why Aston Villa boss is considering alternative solutions.

McArthur, who joined Palace from Wigan for £7.5million in 2014, has played 31 games for Palace last season and he managed to score 5 goals.

With Villa pushing for promotion next year, McArthur would play an important part in the team. However, it remains to be seen if the two clubs will be able to come to an agreement.

Steve Bruce has several other players on the radar as well, including Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who spent the previous season on loan at Villa.
